Who We Are

About the Lab

The Carbon Containment Lab is a research and educational 501(c)(3) non-profit based in New Haven, CT, spun out of Yale University in 2024.

The team has deep expertise across a number of disciplines: Earth and geological science, engineering, economics and finance, social science, and entrepreneurship. We share a common motivation – global climate change needs to be addressed now and in, innovative new ways. We partner and collaborate with expert advisors, partner organizations, and student interns.

The Carbon Containment Lab’s mission is to develop and support emergent climate solutions by applying scientific, entrepreneurial, and investment expertise.

Goals

Beating climate change is going to be both a sprint and a marathon. To that end, we support climate solutions that target both near-term and longer-term needs.

  • Sprint: We support the capture and abatement of short-lived climate pollutants such as methane and HFCs with the equivalent climate benefit of 100 million tons of CO2 by 2030 at an average cost of less than $25 per ton.

  • Marathon: We support the removal and mitigation of the equivalent of 1 billion tons of CO2 by 2050 at an average cost of less than $75 per ton.

Partners & Collaborators

We collaborate widely with organizations and individuals. Collaborators and partners help to shape our projects and technologies and move them into feasible implementation. If you're interested in working together, please be in touch at info@cclab.org.
